From D.C. to Tennessee
Known as a unique force in hip-hop, Wale has been disrupting the norms since his arrival on the scene in 2006. This D.C. rapper blends old-school lyrics with new-school energy, a combo that has solidified him as a critical favorite among fans. He's topped Billboard charts and received both platinum and gold certifications. During Obama's final State of the Union address, Wale became the first rapper ever to open for it. And now, near the end of his Under A Blue Moon tour, Wale has taken Nashville by storm at Marathon Music Works.
But first, taking the stage was Cam Wallace, a songwriter, producer, and recording artists out of Houston, Texas. His influences such as Timbaland, Kanye West and Missy Elliot helped him to perfect his craft in both producing and recording. As soon as Cam stepped out, the crowd, eager for the show to start, began to cheer and was immediately entranced by his stage presence. Cam performed a short but impactful set, encouraging the crowd to get loose and get ready for a night of great music and great vibes.
After Cam's performance, Oakland native Guapdad 4000 appeared on stage. Guapdad was eager to learn the ins and outs of the music scene as a child, and his creativity and humor showed through in his lighthearted raps throughout the night. His clever wordplay put him in a league of his own, which the crowd appreciated. During his set, he rocked a pair of white pants with wild designs on him, and a matching shirt with a crocheted hat on top, only adding to his unique style of both rap and fashion. His music set the stage perfectly flowed into Wale's appearance.
The anticipation reached its peak as Wale took his seat on a leather chair atop a bed of roses, igniting the crowd's excitement. With his mesmerizing presence, he jumped right into things and sent the crowd into a frenzy with his popular hit, "Lotus Flower Bomb." Wale continued to give the crowd what they came for, including an acapella verse of "Just Friends." The crowd matched his energy, rapping along to songs such as "Diced Pineapples" and "Ambition," yet another crowd favorite. After that, we were given back-to-back performances of his hottest features, including one of the hottest songs from 2010, "No Hands," as he was joined on stage by Guapdad and Cam along with the rest of their crew, ending a night of excitement and good vibes for the crowd.
