Syd Brings Broken Hearts Together in Music City

Let's get to know SYD

A singer/songwriter and producer out of Los Angeles California who is making waves in the R&B and soul world with her sophomore album, Syd is pouring her heart out for fans on her Broken Hearts Club tour. Rising to prominence as a member who laid the foundation for the hip hop collective Odd Future, she played a pivotal role in shaping the collective's sound. She has continued to forge a path with the band The Internet, and also as a solo artist. Her latest release, "Broken Hearts Club," took centerstage during her performance at Cannery Ballroom. The album explores themes of both love and heartbreak, reflecting Syd's personal journey throughout it all.

Although the majority of her set consisted of songs off her new album, Syd also included songs from "Fin," her first solo album, and even included a couple songs from her band, The Internet, bringing devoted fans into an even bigger frenzy. Throughout her set, Syd demonstrated an incredible talent for setting the mood and being tuned in to her audience.

She went on to paint a clear picture of her intense relationship for the crowd, through the good and the bad times, performing in such a way that encouraged the crowd to open up and feel the emotion behind each track, including her hit "Fast Car," a euphoric tale of two lovers in their own world, wrapped up in their love and each other.

Though there was no shortage of slow, emotionally deep songs, Syd was able to balance it out with her more upbeat hits with absolutely perfect transitions throughout the night such as "Right Track". She graciously conveyed her joy at being able to perform for the audience and for the intense relationship that sparked the creation of "Broken Hearts Club."
